Two of the toughest things in sports are to win a championship and then to repeat it.
On Friday, Chestnut Ridge's Justin McCoy put on another fine display at the PIAA Wrestling Championships as he rolled to both quarterfinal and semifinal victories to earn a berth in his second straight final.
The preliminary round for the Gazette coverage area wrestlers was a superb one. The quarterfinals was a completely different story.
The Chestnut Ridge Lions moved 10 of the 13 grapplers they took to Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Friday to the quarterfinals.
It was an up and down District 5- AA Tournament for the Bedford County wrestlers, but in the end, the county advanced 25 wrestlers to the Southwest Regional Tournament next weekend at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Third-seeded Berlin Brothersvalley got wins in the final three bouts to overtake a 26-22 Everett lead for a 39-26 win in the District 5 Dual Meet Quarterfinal match-up, Thursday.
Berlin and second-seeded North Star, a 52-15 winner over seventh-seeded Tussey Mountain, will wrestle in a semifinal at Chestnut Ridge on Saturday at 11 a.m.
No. 5 Northern Bedford upended No. 4 Meyersdale 45-24 in the District 5 team tournament quarterfinals Thursday night.
